5/19/16 -- a ride along the Farmington Canal Trail in Hamden and Cheshire yielded 2 singing veeries, 4 Canada warblers and a Wilson's warbler. The utility-line cut near Brooksvale Park in northern Hamden had the expected species: prairie warbler (1), blue-winged warblers (3), field sparrow (1) and indigo bunting (2). Neither cuckoo was observed. Nor was there any sign of the hoped-for alder flycatcher, mourning/prothonotary/Kentucky warblers or blue grosbeak, all of which have occurred here.
