6/1 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 10am-12:30pm, sunny,
70F, high tide receding.
The purple Martins are quite vocal and active in their gourds. One gourd
has a camera which will be operational soon. At 10am, the female osprey was
on the nest and the male was
consuming a fish. this week hopefully the eggs should begin hatching.
Highlight for me was viewing an immature male Orchard oriole. Beautiful
black chin/throat, pointed bill, grayish wings with white wing bar-flitting
through the tops of the trees to the left of the coastal center building.
Also a male Baltimore oriole, on the grounds.
Mourning doves, House finches, singing Carolina wrens, Chickadee, 2 Song
sparrows, 2 singing Yellow warblers, Cardinal, Blue Jay, Tree swallows in
the nest box, Common grackles, singing Male Common yellowthroat.
On marsh: 2 Canada geese with one gosling, 1 Snowy Egret, 2 Mute swans.
