I met a woman yesterday who lives on a farm in East Hampton that borders on Meshomasic State Forest. She reports that she had a Whip-poor-will singing at her house this spring, sometimes from the peak of her roof. It would start up at dusk and keep going. She reports further that the birds nested nearby, and she saw an adult with 4 young a few weeks ago. So, a semi-confirmed nesting of a bird that has become quite uncommon in CT. Her house is about 1/2 mile from the Del Reeves Road marsh where Whips have been reported over the last several years.
