So the Buff-breasted sandpiper was on the mud flats inside the salt pond until the tide inundated, and a black tern still amongst the commons and forsters on the harbor side, east of the sand spit. Lots of lovely egrets, shorebirds in variety and sinister appearing night herons. Blue fish were rising to the surface all over the sound, laughing gulls and terns joined the frenzy by the hundreds. Fishermen were easily catching their limits and knowing what dinner would be. There were these wretched and annoying small bitey fly things all over the marsh, perhaps I should have worn long pants and brought a swatter. This all last night from 6:30 to 8 pm, 8/29.
