[CT Birds] Lighthouse Point Hawkwatch Friday

9/2 - New Haven - Lighthouse Point Park Hawkwatch - 32 migrating raptors
observed:
Osprey - 16
Northern Harrier - 2
Bald Eagle (adult) - 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1
Cooper's Hawk - 1
American Kestrel - 6
Merlin - 4
Unidentified Accipiter - 1
In addition, many local raptors were observed, including Red-shouldered
Hawks, Red-tailed Hawks, Turkey Vultures, an adult Bald Eagle, and several
Osprey.  10 species of raptors was a nice way to begin the season!
Other migrants included 2 Yellow Warblers, 6 Warbler sp., 3 Blue-grey
Gnatcatchers, 4 Eastern Kingbirds, 2 Red-breasted Nuthatches, 2
Unidentified Shorebirds, 200 Laughing Gulls, 50 Common Terns, 50 Bobolinks,
170 Red-winged Blackbirds, 67 Cedar Waxwings, 133 Chimney Swifts, 160 Barn
Swallows, 530 Tree Swallows, 12 American Goldfinches, 4 Double-crested
Cormorants, 2 Great Blue Herons.
In the park were Fish Crow, Carolina Wren, BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, Canada
Geese, Blue Jay, Mourning Dve, Northern Flicker, Eur. Starling,
Brown-headed Cowbird, American Goldfinch, Northern Mockingbird,
Great-crested Flycatcher, Eastern Wood Pewee, and Purple Finch.
