Passing this along.
From Jamie Meyers (9/14) --
This morning around 7:30 AM there were two Red Crossbills in the treeline at the far end of the pond across from 72 Church Hill Road in Colebrook. At least three Red Crossbills were feeding in the pines across the street (on the south side) from nearby Benedict Pond in Norfolk between 7:45 and 8 AM. It was a Red-breasted Nuthatch party all around.
The cone crop in that particular area is impressive. Given the numerous reports from there and the one from New Hartford yesterday, it stands to reason that the crossbills might be found in just about any stand of pines with good groupings of cones. Might be worth checking your favorite patch if such trees are part of it!
