A quick stop this afternoon at Aspetuck Reservoir turned up a nice variety
of ducks for October, including the large flock of Ring-necked Ducks (over
50) that spends the fall here. Mixed in were single hen Bufflehead and
Lesser Scaup, both on the early side, along with several other species. On
the late side, there were three Solitary Sandpipers feeding on the large
amount of exposed mud. Two were on the far shore as observed from the
fountain (need a scope), and one was at the north end.
