Harkness Memorial State Park, Waterford, CT, 11:20 am 27 Nov. 2016;
Off the point were an American oystercatcher, 12 purple sandpipers, a
white-winged scoter, and a common loon caught feasting on lobster.
On Middle and Cormorant Rocks below Camp Harkness there were about 10 great
cormorants along with great black-backed gulls.
At the brush and dirt piles and greenhouse area there was a flock of about
15 cardinals, a modest variety of sparrows, and only one yellow-rumped
warbler. (Midday probably wasn't the best time to looking for land birds.)
Jordan Cove had buffleheads, red-breasted mergansers, American black ducks,
and a great blue heron.
