12/3/16 - Few highlights from today's birding.


Central Village, Quinebaug Fish Hatchery - CLAY-COLORED SPARROW continues. Observed feeding with juncos in gravel road near pump house #9 between the shorebird pond and the new pond.


Griswold, Clayville Pond (scoped from Rte. 12) - NORTHERN SHOVELER, GREEN-WINGED TEAL (2), RING-NECKED DUCK (30), AMERICAN WIGEON (3), AMERICAN COOT (5) and WOOD DUCK (4).


Columbia, Columbia Lake - COMMON MERGANSER (46), 


Andover, Andover Lake - RUDDY DUCK (108), HOODED MERGANSER (100), BUFFLEHEAD (60), COMMON MERGANSER (24), COMMON GOLDENEYE (3).


Broadbrook, Mill Pond - GREATER WHITE FRONTED GOOSE.


Somers, Durkee Road -  (4:15 pm) SHORT-EARED OWL continues in scrubby area in cornfield.
