[CT Birds] Jan.19 meeting of the WCBC - Richard Prum

The Western CT Bird Club Meeting is this Thursday, January 19th. As usual it will be at the Hearth at 655 Main Street-South in Southbury. Refreshments from 6:30 pm, the meeting starts at 7pm, the program at 7:15 pm. Length:  about an hour.

Reconstructionof the evolutionary history of relationships among birds has progressedtremendously in the last decade. The use of genomic data has allowed us to reconstructthe history of common ancestry with increasing accuracy and confidence. Newresults provide surprising discoveries about the history and diversity of thebirds of the world. 

RichardO. Prum is the William Robertson Coe Professor of Ornithology at YaleUniversity. A life-long birder, Prum's research program combines his love offield observation and bird behavior with laboratory and museum investigations.He is the recipient of the MacArthur, Guggenheim, and Fulbright Fellowships.
