[CT Birds] Cormorants and politics

In this day and age, bird conservation is inextricably linked to politics. Environmental conservation used to be a bipartisan issue that would unite all citizens in this country. Today bird conservation and habitat conservation are constantly under attack by one political party.
For anyone who is a member of COA, it would be wise to be informed about these matters as they apply to the birds and habitats that they enjoy. In today's political atmosphere, conservation is at a critical point. Some in congress have already come out with new proposals that would sell off federal public lands (bird habitat). The Endangered Species Act is under constant assault and environmental regulations that protect people as well as wildlife appear to be at the edge of being gutted. These things are all a part of the agenda of one political party.
The future is not rosy in the world of birds or the places that they live.
