4/5 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 10 am-1PM, overcast,
50F, high tide receding.
9:45am- both ospreys are flying over the marsh, calling loudly. At 10:25
the male osprey brought in a fish and sat on his perch. The female was on
the nest, and flew over to the perch, expecting some breakfast. The male
flew off with the fish, circled and returned with the fish to his perch.
The female again went to the perch, wanting some fish, and male flew off
again. He returned to the perch a third time and female approached, but he
flew off. The female pursued him, he dropped the fish into the marsh,
retrieved it and then was chased by both a gull and the female osprey.
Male returned to the perch with another fish at 12:25pm, consuming it. No
sign of female. He was not wanting to share that first fish.
