Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy in Litchfield located off Rt. 202 on Duck Pond Road is at last open to the public. Weekends only 10-4 with a donation of $10.

Many new ducks this season with two Eurasian Weigon being a highlight. Also one new natural aviary that is open which allows the ducks to move freely from one aviary to the other. The completion of the project I'm told by an intern should be early summer.

If you are a duck person this spot should be a must to do on your bird list and plan to spend several hours.

Photography is rather simple just by focusing past the fence material and a medium zoom is perfect. No tripods, monopod, or long telephoto allowed. If you're after a personal experience a 1/2 day photo pass is something to think about. Check out the web site for all the details.

Currently all the male ducks look splendid with many baby ducks in separate enclosures.

They also have several raptor hawks and a beautiful Eurasian Owl.
