5/9 - River Road, Kent: several Ceruleans seen and heard this morning with group from Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club. 13 species of warbler inc.ovenbird, worm-eating, many redstarts, n.parula, chestnut-sided, black-throated blue; also great crested flycatcher, e. kingbird, yellow-throated, warbling and red-eyed vireos, veery, wood thrush, scarlet tanager, rose-breasted grosbeak, Baltimore oriole.
Re the reported road closure: effective Memorial Day, the gate will be put up two miles down the road where the AT enters and another on the road which comes down at the end just before the parking lot. The gates will remain until Labor Day. This is at the request of the town due to vandalism last summer. There are small pull-offs where a couple of cars can park throughout the length of the road, but it is a 1-mile walk from the gate to the end of the road; the AT of course continues.
