At last, a chance to combine your passions for beer, birds and avian conservation! May 22nd is the 5th Annual Chimney Swift Conservation Night at the Willimantic Brewing Co., 967 Main St. in Willimantic, CT. The Brewery will be tapping Flying Cigar Ale, brewed only once per year for this special event, and donating a portion of the proceeds from each one sold to the conservation effort for chimney swifts. During this family friendly event, swift researchers from UConn and CT DEEP will be sharing fun facts about chimney swifts, and how to help them, in the dining room and tap room from 6 p.m. to about 7:40 p.m. Free guided tours to the Nathan Hale roost and the adjacent Town Hall roost will occur at approximately 7:40 pm. You’ll be able to witness the wonderful spectacle of hundreds of chimneys swifts ‘tornadoeing’ into two of the state’s largest summer roosts. This event fills FAST; make dinner reservations today at 860-423-6777. For more information, contact: Margaret Rubega at margaret.rubega at uconn.edu or Min Huang at min.huang at ct.gov.
