5/24  Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 10M-1pm.
very high tide receding, overcast early, then clearing, .  12 Purple
martins at gourds, some bringing in grass and twigs.
At 10 am the female osprey was on the nest and the male on his perch.  Male
flew off and returned several times, while female remained on nest,
shuffled the eggs a few times. Twice, some intruder ospreys entered their
"air space" and came very close to the nest, but then departed.
On the marsh: 1 Great Egret, 1 Snowy egret,  34 Mute swans, 12 Canada
Geese, many Brant very far out, 1 mallard, 2 Barn swallows flying over, 4
Tree swallows (2 in nest box) and 2 were having quite a fight over the
water, knocking each other into the water several times.
On grounds: 1 Goldfinch, 1 male Baltimore oriole, 2 Starlings, Grackles,
mourning doves, 1 Song sparrow, 2 Red winged black birds.
On Long Island sound side (with Melena) at 12:30- 4 Oystercatchers, 1
Semipalmated plover, 3 Least Sandpipers and about 4 Semi palmated
sandpipers, 1 Piping plover on nest.
