I spent the first half of today shorebirding between West Haven and
Stratford. Eleven shorebird species were seen. Numbers and diversity
seemed right on par for this early portion of the southbound migration
along the CT coast. Terns were nearly non-existent. Swallows are
staging, with many juveniles about.

Here are numbers of shorebird migrants:

West Haven, Sandy Pt:
2 Semipalmated Plover
35 Least Sandpiper
30 Semipalmated Sandpiper
4 Short-billed Dowitcher
1 Greater Yellowlegs

Stratford Great Meadows "loop":
1 Greater Yellowlegs
2 Lesser Yellowlegs
10 Least Sandpiper
50 Semipalmated Sandpiper

Milford, Milford Point:
3 Least Sandpiper
250 Semipalmated Sandpiper
