Seen Sunday afternoon at high tide so all birds were on outer bar except
for 3 Least Sandpipers on marsh side next to Center: about 100 Sanderlings
with a few Semipalmated Sandpipers mixed in, about 75 Black-Bellied
Plovers, some molting; 2 Red Knots (my first in CT), 2 Oystercatchers, 2
flying Willets, several Ruddy Turnstones, 4 Short-Billed Dowitchers and
about a dozen Semipalmated Plovers. Note: two female birders sharing a
scope were French-speaking from Montreal with a shorebird list - in French.
Non-birders walking along water's edge also scattered flocks but
thankfully, they kept returning.
