12/02 - Derby, Osbornedale State Park -- Western Flycatcher, seen from
10:30 AM to 1:00 PM (bird was still visible when everyone left at
1:00).  It was seen regularly but not continuously over that time,
from close to the road to about half way in.  Besides foraging low
along the edge as yesterday, it also foraged high in the tree tops (at
least sometimes in the catkins) and out in the cut field on either
side of the trail.

12/02 - Westport, Sherwood Island State Park --  1:30-3:15pm, 175
Common Redpoll (no Hoaries but poor light and constant movement  
inhibited full coverage); 1 "Ipswich" Savannah Sparrow along west
beach in front of first bathhouse.

12/02 - Canton, Roaring Brook Nature Center -- Just ahead of the snow
squalls, a mixed flock of Pine Siskins and Common Redpolls devouring
niger.

12/02 - Southbury, Southbury Training School Farm -- Adult Northern
Shrike continues. It is seen at the intersection of Purchase Brook Rd
and Cassidy Rd at the south end of the farm.

12/02 - Westport, Sherwood Island State Park -- 150 COMMON REDPOLLS
feeding around the east beach in all of the birches.  First seen about
10:45ish.  4-6 flocks loosely hanging together. At 11:30-12:00 about
60-100 birds relocated moving all along the east beach almost all the
way to the parking lot.  Feeding mainly on birches but also in the
weeds.

RED-HEADED WOODPECKER  (present since 10/7),  6 RUSTY BLACKBIRD.

-- 18 Rusty Blackbirds were foraging along the edge of the 
swamp.
