Note 1: Dave Tripp posted a request on CTBirds.
"The Barkhamsted CBC is Saturday with count week starting tomorrow.
Although I will be watching for sightings listed from the areas (e.g.
Pine Grosbeaks), please include any other unusual birds for Northern
CT. Waterfowl is becoming huge right now as the reservoirs
(Barkhamsted & Nepaug) and lakes are rapidly freezing. You never know
what may be missed on count day. Also be as specific with details
(numbers, location, time) so we do not duplicate birds, if you happen
to be birding here on Saturday."

Note 2: There has been at least one report of Bohemian Waxwing SOUTH
of Connecticut at Jones Beach, Long Island.  If they are there, they
could be here, so please keep your eyes out!

20+ SNOW BUNTING, COMMON RAVEN.

12/18 - Stratford, airport and marsh -- Dark Phase ROUGH-LEGGED Hawk

12/17 - East Hartland, Town Hall -- 37 Pine Grosbeak feeding on
crabapple tree in front of school, in front of town hall (photos), and
in front of houses (#39?) to the south of the school on the west side
of the street. There may have been more present; 37 was my single best
count at one time.

AMERICAN COOT Water Street, 1 AMERICAN KESTREL  "old landfill" park  
next to Maritime Center. 1 BROWN THRASHER, 1 BROWN CREEPER, 1  
CATBIRD, behind the Norwalk Community College, 1 EASTERN TOWHEE at  
Cemetery. 2200 AMERICAN CROWS at their roost NE of the Maritime  
Center. 2 BLUEBIRDS male & female, 1 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET at Dolce  
(former GTE).
