Special Note: I was asked to convey the sad news of the passing of
Millie Letis. Millie and her husband George have been avid birders
and beloved members of the New Haven Bird Club for 44 years. The wake
will be at Clancy - Sisk Brothers (43 Kirkham Ave, East Haven) on
Wednesday night from 4-8pm. A memorial service will be at the funeral
home on Thursday at 10am with burial to follow.

7/15 - Litchfield, White Memorial, Little Pond -- 6pm, 1 BLACK TERN
arrived from the north, attempted feeding, departed back north.

7/15 - New Fairfield -- female PURPLE FINCH with 3 YOUNG, bridge over
Quaker Brook, state line. Also, though not flying, MINK feeding young
in bank of stream.

7/15 - Stratford, Access Rd. pool, 7pm -- 1 STILT SANDPIPER continues.
Again, did NOT see the Common Moorhen. We also didn't receive the
forecasted rain today, so the remaining pool is getting pretty small.
Stratford, Long Beach, 7:30pm - 1 adult BLACK SKIMMER, sleeping in
marsh channel at low tide
Stratford, Short Beach, 8pm - 1 adult BLACK SKIMMER skimming along
Housatonic River
From Greg Hanisek, Neil Currie, Randy Domina, Bill Banks:
7/16 - Guilford, Leetes Island marsh at Shell Beach Road -- WHIMBREL;
also at least 10 PURPLE MARTINS that appear to be from a colony in a
couple of small martin houses right at the entrance to the private
neighborhood down Shell Beach Road.
Stratford, Access Road pool/mud flat -- 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER. Also one
Yellow-crowned Night Heron along with several along Oak Bluff Ave.
Total of 12 shorebird species from Guilford to Stratford. Couldn't
find Stilt Sandpiper.
