Note 1: There are long messages about today's SANDWICH TERN on the
CTBirds list. Those wanting the details, including links to photos
and identification pointers, but who are not on that list can read the
details at
http://lists.ctbirding.org/pipermail/ctbirds_lists.ctbirding.org/Week-of-Mon-20070730/thread.html
Note 2: Where are all the CT birders? This is getting into prime
migration season, with thousands of shorebirds, flocks of terns, but
only the same handful of birders looking at them. Wouldn't it be even
better to FIND something instead of just chasing someone else's find?
From Charlie Barnard and Nick Bonomo:
7/31 - On breakwater in Housatonic River between Stratford and Milford
(viewed from Short Beach, Stratford) -- SANDWICH TERN. This bird flew
off to the Southwest and out of sight down the coast.
From Luke Tiller:
7/31 - Fairfield, Penfield Reef -- SANDWICH TERN.
From Charlie Barnard and Dennis Varza:
7/31 - Milford Point, Milford -- 2 WHIMBREL as "fly-byes."
From Mark Szantyr:
7/31 - South Windsor, Station 43 -- two Least Bitterns well out in
the marsh.
