Note 1: Frank Gallo asks that at high tide birders (and everyone else
for that matter) avoid walking out on the long sand bar to the left
(east) on the LI Sound side at Milford Point. This peninsula has
large areas marked as no entry because of nesting birds. At high tide
it is possible to stay outside the lines but only by getting much too
close to the birds for their security. Going out there at lower tides
is not a problem if one remembers to keep away from the birds.

Note 2: The bulk of migration is over, but we have been reminded that
the first two weeks of June is a particularly good time for extremely
good vagrants. Which is another way to say Don't Stop Birding!!! 8-)

 From Nick Bonomo:
6/05 - Milford, Milford Pt w/ several observers -- ROYAL TERN

From EJ Raynor via Andy Griswold at CT Audubon EcoTravel:
6/05 - Milford, Milford Point -- ROYAL TERN 403PM on furthest bar with
skimmers and gulls.

 From Chris Elphick, et al.:
6/05 - Old Lyme, Lieutenant River -- 1 Least Bittern (just across from
the ramp on Rte 156) and 1 Caspian Tern (heading S over Upper Island,
a short paddle downstream). Saltmarsh sharp-tailed sparrows are still
singing a fair bit. It is likely that nests were flooded in the last
day or two though. More high high tides are due next week, so after
16th, there should be a lot of birds starting to re-nest and a
resurgence of singing.
