 From Frank Mantlik
6/16 - Westport, Compo Beach 12:30 -- 3 LAUGHING GULLS (1 adult).
Fairfield, South Pine Creek Beach 7:45pm - 94 LAUGHING GULLS (15
adult) on sandy flats. An unusually high number this early in the
summer season. Perhaps they got blown across from Long Island by the
thunderstorm.

6/14 - Naugatuck, Naugatuck State Forest w/Charlie Barnard -- 12
species of warblers, not counting Hooded, which we knew were there as
well (similar to Steve Mayo's post); 2 ACADIAN FLYCATCHERS along the
forest road; pair of WINTER WRENS feeding two fledglings on a mossy
log. We did not make the hike in to try for the Golden-winged, which
I couldn't find back on 5/29. We went back after dark to listen for
Whip-poor-wills, with no success. I have had them here many years ago
on Big Days. Has anyone had them here in recent years?

 From Tim Antanaitis:
6/16 - Kent, River Rd -- 3 CERULEAN WARBLERS, 4 BLACK VULTURES, 2
COMMON RAVENS
Kent, Schaghticoke Rd -- 2 male HOODED WARBLERS, 1 CERULEAN WARBLER, 1
NORTHERN PARULA
Sharon, the Cornwall Bridge from River Rd -- 20+ CLIFF SWALLOWS: 12
total nests (10 of these definitely occupied by a nesting pair)
visible from the Sharon side of the river
Stratford, Long Beach Blvd pond -- 2 BOAT-TAILED GRACKLES
Stratford, Railroad Trail -- 3 MARSH WRENS
Stratford, Access Rd pond -- 2 MARSH WRENS
Stratford, Long Beach -- 1 adult breeding BLACK TERN at 5:30pm seen
flying close to shore, going first towards Milford and then five
minutes later going back in the other direction. I'm guessing it was
the same individual trying to avoid the big storm that arrived a few
minutes later?, 2 YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS (7:30pm), 1 BROWN
THRASHER (7:30pm)

FROM Penny Solum, Betty Zuraw, Kris Johnson, Denise Jernigan, Sara
Zagorski:
6/17 - Stratford, McKinney Wildlife refuge -- 11:45AM Tricolored Heron
seen in the pond by the wooden blind around the corner from the
RR tracks of the McKinney Wildlife area.

 From Donna Lorello:
6/17 - Branford - White winged Dove #1 under front feeding station.

 From Steve & Charla Spector
6/17 - Stratford, MicKinney Wildlife Refuge -- 2:00 PM, TRICOLORED
HERON in the pond next to the parking lot before going out on RR
tracks. Note to the wise: if you go out in the mid-day sun to walk
the railroad tracks to the blind, take plenty of 100% Deet. The
mosquitoes are thriving.
