From Fran Zygmont via Jamie Meyers:
5/19 - Barkhamsted Reservoir -- 4 COMMON EIDERS, 1 drake and 3 hens,
seen and photographed from the Saville Dam pulloff. They were first
spotted fairly near the road at 7:15 but subsequently flew deeper into
the reservoir and were well out into the reservoir by 7:35, when they
were seen by Dave Tripp and Jamie Meyers.

5/19 - Roaring Brook Nature Center, Canton -- 1 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER
previously found by Jay Kaplan on a bird walk, also 2 BLACK-BILLED

for the probable 28th+ day and the confirmed 20th day.

-- singing MOURNING WARBLER.
From Andrew Dasinger:
5/19 Glastonbury, Clark Hill Road - KENTUCKY WARBLER seen around 8
AM. Directions: immediately after power line right-of-way, there is a
gated gravel road on the left (north). Walk up this road to
intersection with a dirt road (tree with one ribbon of orange and one
ribbon of yellow construction tape). Go left on dirt road. Bird was
seen and heard on right side, marked with two bottles on top of rock
next to the road. Total distance from Clark Hill Road is less than ¼
mile.
From Rick Macsuga:
5/19 - South Windsor, Newberry Rd (swamp) -- Least Bittern, Bobolink.
Ferry Lane -- 6 Bonapartes Gulls(rare inland) working flooded area of
corn field.
From Jeff Kittle:
5/19 - South Windsor, Station 43 -- 1 Pectoral Sandpiper, 1 Least
Bittern popped up out of the marsh for a good look and was gone.
From Frank Gallo, Patrick Dugan and Charlie Barnard:
5/18 - Stratford -- A Purple Sandpiper (possibly 2) on the Jetty's at
Long Beach. A Black Skimmer, on the back side of Smith's Point at
Milford Point, seen from the Stratford Boatramp. 5 Yellow-crowned
Night-Heron's were seen in the area.
From Mardi & Townsend Dickinson:

from 2PM-3:54PM today.
From Hartford Audubon and New Haven Bird Club Trips:
5/19 - Stonington, Barn Island WMA -- TRICOLORED HERON, a nice little
warbler wave that included a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER.
From Steve Mayo with Jim Sirch and Tedor Whitman (Stratford/Yale
BioBlitz):
5/19 - Forest Road, Stratford - PURPLE GALLINULE
5/19 - Roosevelt Forest, Stratford - COMMON MOORHEN
From Bill Banks, Ed Sadowski and Greg Hanisek..
5/19 - Litchfield, White Memorial, Bluff Point -- Alder Flycatcher,
Wilson's Warbler
From Jay Kaplan:
5/19 - Canton, Roaring Brook Nature Center and vicinity -- Olive-sided
Flycatcher (seen catching and eating a bumblebee), 7 Swainson's
Thrush, 16 species of warbler.
From Maria Stockmal:
5/19 - Derby, Osbornedale State Park / Kellogg Environmental Center --
Black-billed Cuckoo, Black Vulture, Orchard Oriole
From Dave Rosgen:
5/19 - Litchfield, White's Woods Rd. (White Memorial's Pine Island) --
1 Blackburnian Warbler
S. Lake St. (White Memorial's Little Pond Boardwalk) - 1 Semipalmated
Plover (very uncommon inland)
From Dave Rosgen, w/ Bob Stanowski, Bill O'Day, Ross Geredien, Elliot
Ashe, et. al. (at least in part):
5/19 - Litchfield, White Hall, N. Shore, Bissell, & White's Woods
Roads. (various places around White Memorial Foundation) -- 12
Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, 4 Brown Creepers, 8 Purple Finches
White Hall Rd. (White Memorial's Museum Feeders) -- 2 White-crowned
Sparrows
From Elliot Ashe:
5/19 - Litchfield, (White Memorial's Pt. Folly) -- 1 Solitary
Sandpiper
From Roy Harvey:
5/19 - West Hartford, Rt 44 powerline cut (south of Rt 44) -- several
Wilson's Warblers, Blackburnian Warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler. The
Wilson's were along the early part of the trail.
Bloomfield, Penwood State Park -- Kentucky Warbler singing
occasionally and seen briefly in the usual spot.
Naugatuck, Naugatuck State Forest -- KENTUCKY WARBLER singing 1:50 to
2:10 on the trail behind the first green gate on left side as you come
in along Hunter's Mountain Rd. The clearing is about 3/4 of the way
down the trail, before reaching the powerline cut. (Also in the same
area, oddly enough, a chicken.) IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT AFTER
THE CLEARING THE PATH IS ALMOST BLOCKED BY A FALLEN DEAD TREE. ALL
THE PLENTIFUL FOLIAGE ON THE DEAD TREE IS FROM THRIVING POISON IVY
VINES THAT ALMOST BLOCK THE PATH. It is easy enough to get around
without touching it, but if you don't realize what it is.....
And a bit off topic but I thought worth passing on anyway:
From Bill Banks and Ed Sadowski:
5/19 - Litchfield, White Memorial, Little Pond boardwalk -- About
11:30 AM, we were about 1/3 of the way around the boardwald to the
left, just at the end of all the fragmites, etc, when we both looked
back behind us. There on the boardwalk, coming toward us, was a BLACK
BEAR, about 250 pounds, walking with a limp. Looked like the left
rear paw was damaged. Luckily, the BEAR decided to turn around and go
back toward the entrance. We followed at a respectful distance, and
did not see it again.
