From Mark Szantyr:
2/01 - South Windsor, Station 43, Vibert Road -- A female
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was in the flock of about 1000 plus blackbirds
(mostly Common Grackles) at the back of the fields in the woods,
in the vicinity of the small bridge. This was this morning before the
ice storm; the bird offered only fleeting glimpses as it flushed with
the icterid flock. The Northern Shrike continued.
From Paul Cianfaglione:
2/01 - Hartford, Riverside Park Boat Launch -- 1 first winter ICELAND
GULL.
From Steve Morytko:
2/01 - Ashford yard -- the adult Red-headed Woodpecker is still
present in our yard (288 Varga Rd). It's not an early riser and it
goes to bed early too so time your visit at least an hour after/before
sunrise/sunset. You shouldn't have to wait more than 1/2 hour to see
it. It stays within the 300' (N to S) strip of open woods between the
house and Wormwood Hill Road. It's best to pull over on Wormwood Hill
Road.
From Scott Henckel:
2/01 - Shelton yard - This nasty storm brought some
Redpolls and Pine Siskins to my feeders today. I haven't seen them in
my yard since the last snow fall. 8 Common Redpolls, 5 Pine Siskins,
1 Red-breasted Nuthatch.
From John Wojtanowski via Joe Wojtanowski:
1/31 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- BOHEMIAN WAXWING, WESTERN
TANAGER, SNOW BUNTING, PINE WARBLER, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, FOX
SPARROW. The BOHEMIAN WAXWING was seen in the morming at the top of a
tree at the Mohegan 1 campground area.
From Paul Cashman:
1/31 - Fairfield, South Pine Creek Nature Preserve -- Winter Wren
