 From Robert Dixon:
1/02 - Norfolk, Shepard Rd., at the senior housing -- 7:30am to
8:00am, 10 PINE GROSBEAKS.
Goshen, 281 Hageman Shean Rd -- 25+ COMMON REDPOLL, also a few at
feeders across the street on dead-end road.
Ashford, 288 Varga Rd. -- RED-HEADED WOODPECKER.

 From Greg Hanisek
1/02 - Southbury, River Road & Purchase Brook Road c 10 am -- imm.
NORTHERN SHRIKE teed up in tall tree in farm field on north side of
Purchase Brook Road.

 From Patrick Comins:
1/02 - Southbury, Audubon Center at Bent of the River -- A few COMMON
REDPOLLS paid a short visit to the feeders. One came in, but there
were a few more calling from the surrounding trees. Also one female
type PURPLE FINCH and one PINE SISKIN.

From Neil Currie and Tom Hook:
1/02 - Norfolk- East Canaan line, route 44, Laurelbrook Farm -- 1
Lapland Longspur on farm road and corn stuble field with Horned
Larks.

 From Randy Domina:
1/02 - Milford, Mondo Ponds -- male REDHEAD
Madison, Hammonasset S.P. -- 3 LAPLAND LONGSPUR, 1 FOX SPARROW, 1 PINE
WARBLER

 From Bill and Nancy LaFramboise:
1/02 - Columbia, Whitney Road -- 50 or so COMMON REDPOLLS.

From Frank Mantlik, with Joe Bear:
1/01 - Norfolk, Shepard Rd. -- at least 53 PINE GROSBEAKS; maximum
count of several flocks in treetops near the Senior Housing facility
entrance road crabapples. We found our first flock of about 9 further
east along Rt. 44 (I think also in the town of Norfolk).
Canaan, Rt. 7 -- COMMON RAVEN.
Canaan, Rt 63, along Robbins Swamp (I think) -- dark-morph
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK.
Canaan, Under Mountain Rd/ Cobble Rd. -- 2 NORTHERN SHRIKES. One was
in a tree at the west end of Cobble Rd. (down from Rt. 63), over the
flooded road; the other was at the intersection of Barnes Rd.
BEWARE: Cobble Road is blocked off at the east end (near Under
Mountain Rd.), so it's a mistake to drive through the flooded portion
from the west. We didn't get stuck, but a car with less clearance
could.
