Passed on by Greg Hanisek:
1/09 - New Fairfield, near the junction of Rts 37 & 68 -- The
southermost (I think) report of Pine Grosbeak this winter in Conn has
been recorded on eBird.
From Mike Curtis:
1/11 - Old Lyme, Lieutenant River Ln -- 9:30 AM, the Yellow Breasted
Chat made a cooperative appearance between torrential rain events.
Same place.
From Nick Bonomo:
1/11 - Waterford, Harkness State Park -- one Razorbill, two Northern
Gannets, one Black Scoter, one Surf Scoter, 4 Ruddy Turnstones, as
well as a Peregrine Falcon. 2-3PM.
From Fran Zygmont:
1/10 - Barkhamsted yard -- a flock of Common Redpolls grew from 15 to
about 30 (circling the area) by about 7:15am. They landed for
a couple minutes in one of the treetops and got brief looks at the
group - had a distincitvely lighter and minimally streaked bird, but
could not confirm whether it was the Hoary again. Interesting to note
that when I got home last evening, I noticed all 5 thistle feeders
were well worked......indicating that there was quite a feast going on
during the day!!!
From Mark Szantyr:
1/10 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- morning, a few Red
Crossbills as well as Red-breasted Nuthatches in the pines at West
Beach. Mid-morning, I found a 2nd winter Lesser Black-backed Gull
loafing with the gulls in the West Beach parking area.
From Susan Gonzalez:
1/10 - Waterford, Millstone Point -- Peregrine Falcon
