Snipe flushed by coursing N. Harrier; Snipe flew high & fast, then
circled around and landed on ground within ten feet of us but could
not be seen: camouflage)
1/19 - Milford, Bic Drive & West Ave (near Mondo Ponds) -- mature
Red-shouldered Hawk

1/19 - Woodbridge -- at community gardens BLACK VULTURE, NORTHERN
HARRIER (rare at this location); at Massero Farm two BROWN THRASHERS;
in yard adult NORTHERN GOSHAWK.

1/19 - Plainfield, Quinebaug Fish Hatchery -- PURPLE FINCH, BROWN
CREEPER.
Old Lyme, 17 Lieutenant River Road -- YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT appeared
briefly around 9:50 AM.  I also spotted a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER fly
into a tall pine a couple houses down.
Madison, Hammonasset Beach SP -- 2 LAPLAND LONGSPURS with lark flock
near the nature center.  Also a PINE WARBLER feeding with sparrows on
the east side of the main access road, about halfway between the
entrance gates and the rotary.  This is a different bird than was
recently with the crossbills on the west end, a much more colorful
one.  I am told that the crossbills were there today but I didn't
check.
Ansonia, Ansonia Nature Center -- WINTER WREN, flyover BLACK VULTURE.

1/18 - Pomfret Center, yard -- 17 Common Redpolls at the nyjer feeders
today, another yard record.

1/18 - Old Lyme -- 1 Yellow-breasted Chat continues, feeding on rose
hips next to 17 Lieutenant River Road mailbox, 1:35 - 1:45 pm.
