 From Steve Mayo:
1/28 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- The Western Tanager was seen
at the Hammonasset Mohegan 1 campground for about 5 minutes. It then
flew to the line of cedars described in yesterday's post, where it was
flushed by a Northern Harrier. Time was about 11:30 am. No other
sightings from 7:45 am till then. The Orange-crowned Warbler was seen
a few yards away at Tunxis and a bit further on, at the Hammo entrance
road median. This morning was very quiet but the usuals (2+Fox
Sparrows, 2+ Pine Warblers, partial albino Robin) were present.

 From Don Morgan:
1/28 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- The Western Tanager was
intermittently present all morning, but was not seen in the afternoon
as far as I know. The only place it appeared was in the dense grove
of young cedars southwest of the Mohegan I restrooms in front of the
small pond. I believe it was sheltering from the strong and cold
north wind, and eating cedar and possibly bittersweet berries. The
Orange-crowned Warbler seen it in the grove of trees to the west? of
the M-I restrooms. (Towards the campground parking area), mostly on
the ground under the cedars with 1 or 2 Pine Warblers and a single
Robin.
