10/13 - Shelton, Jones Family Farm, Xmas tree farm above winery
buildings -- 2:30-3:30, 200 PINE SISKINS flying west in flocks
numbering 20 to 120. Following the report from Greenwich, we decided
to head there and have a look. The extensive tree farm area was very
birdy with sparrows (1 LINCOLN'S), warblers, bluebirds, etc., plus the
bonus of the siskins. The staff told us it's permissible to walk the
tree farm area, but the berry field area in the valley is off limits

10/13 - Greenwich, Quaker Ridge -- Starting at about 11:15, flocks of
Pine Siskins averaging about 40 moved through for about a half hour
with some sporadic flocks for a half hour following that. The count
as of 12:38 was 555.
Greenwich(?), Chestnut Ridge -- 870 PINE SISKINS up to that same time.

Siskins feeding on Gray Birch catkins. Also, a male Dickcissel made
an appearance later in the afternoon.
