Note: There is an unconfirmed report of a possible flycatcher passed
along by Sara Zagorski: "Joe Valenti just called me to report that he
saw a flycatcher, yellowish head and white wing bars, near the
entrance gate to Rocky Hill Meadows from the ferry parking lot. It was
on the left hand side by the gate. He saw it about 1:30." Sara did
NOT locate the bird in the late afternoon.

02/05/09 - New Haven, East Shore Park -- 2:30pm, BLACK-HEADED GULL
flew from harbor shoreline into sewage plant ponds (along with many
Ring-billed gulls). Female NORTHERN PINTAIL flew out from same ponds,
heading south.
02/05/09 - East Haven, LI Sound off end of Brazos Rd -- 3:45pm, male
BARROW'S GOLDENEYE. After scanning/scoping in bitter wind for 45
minutes, I eventually found this beauty off the west end of Caroline
St. (the road that parallels the beach at the foot of Brazos Rd.).
(Only the 2nd time I've ever been here; I remembered it as the site of
an adult male King Eider a few winters ago). Also present were ABOUT
80 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 35 PURPLE SANDPIPERS.
02/05/09 - Stratford, I-95, west of exit 34, Housatonic River bridge
-- PEREGRINE FALCON atop westernmost high-electric tower.
Birdseye St, town boat ramp -- WILSON'S SNIPE continues in drainage
ditch.

02/05/09 - East Haven - Black-headed Gull flew from the wastewater
treatment plant (with 40 Ring-bills) onto the sand bar at the north
end of East Shore Park at 10:45 AM (2 1/2 hrs before low tide).

6 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS in the hemlocks uphill from the barn.

02/05/09 - Somers, Durkee Rd -- 10 SNOW BUNTINGS with Horned Larks at
the corn spill around 11:35.

02/05/09 - Farmington -- 1 FOX SPARROW. 1 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER
(adult m) daily since 01/15/09.

White-winged Crossbill.
