02/07/09 - Windsor, Windsor Landfill (11:00am) -- 1 first year
THAYER'S GULL.  (possibly the same bird Nick and Julian had a few
weeks ago).
02/07/09 - Enfield, South River Street Boat Launch -- 1 drake BARROW'S
GOLDENEYE.

02/07/09 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 1 male RED CROSSBILL, 3
male WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS (both in the pines at west beach
parking); AMERICAN BITTERN in the gully next to the road by the nature
center.
Stratford, Long Beach -- Rough-legged Hawk and the 1st winter Glacous
Gull.

 From Bill Roberts:
02/07/09 - Canton -- One adult GOLDEN EAGLE perched in my backyard,
near the Farmington River.

02/07/09 - South Windsor, Strawbridge Condominiums (private property)
-- 11:30AM, 2 dozen Common Redpolls.

02/07/09 - Bloomfield -- 4 WHITE WINGED CROSSBILLS in trees near our
feeders.

02/07/09 - Hamden Yard -- 4 male RUSTY BLACKBIRDS.  (Joined our now
approx 250-300 Siskins!)

02/07/09 - New Haven, East Shore Park -- 8:30 an Iceland Gull was
present on the water at the spot where the Black-headed Gull has been
being seen.  The Black-headed Gull was there at 10:30.
East Haven -- At 10:00 a Peregrine Falcon was perched on the rock off
the end of the jetty to the left of Brazos Road.
02/06/09 - Watertown --about 4:00 the Lincoln's Sparrow was present at
the feeder on Quassapog Road south of Bunker Hill.

02/07/09 - Harwinton yard -- COMMON REDPOLL is still here, been 10
days now in with the 100 plus Pine Siskin.

02/07/09 - Westport, Longshore Club area -- COMMON REDPOLL.
Westport, Nyala Farm -- WILSON'S SNIPE.
Westport, Smith-Richardson, Sasco Creek Rd. -- YELLOW-BELLIED
SAPSUCKER.
Westport, Caryl & Edna Haskins Preserve -- YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER.
Fairfield, near Penfield Creek -- very large raft of about 2500-3000
Scaup, which moved over to along Seaside Park.

02/07/09 - Litchfield, White Hall Rd. (White Memorial's Museum
Feeders) -- 8 COMMON REDPOLLS.

02/07/09 -- Essex Connecticut River -- 34 Bald Eagles on the
Connecticut River Museum sponsored "RiverQuest" boat tour on the CT
River in and around Essex.  5 Adult, 29 Sub-adults.

02/07/09 - Stonington, Barn Island -- Peregrine Falcon dining on a Red
Breasted Merganser on the icy mud flats just off the boat launch,
while a flock of 50 or 60 Mergansers kept a watchful eye just
offshore.

 From Bo Hopkins:
02/07/09 - Greenwich, Mill Pond -- Snow Goose with a large group of
Canada Geese – seen today about 4pm before flying off after a dog ran
onto the ice.

 From Frank Mantilik:
02/06/09 - Westport, Compo Beach -- the adult "KUMLIEN'S" ICELAND GULL
continues (pretty much daily).  A beauty.  Like the other gulls, it
readily comes in close for handouts.
