Note: Numerous birders saw the Harlequin Duck over the course of the
day. The bird is active, so be prepared to be patient if you try for
it. Thanks to Sarah Johnston for finding and sharing this rare inland
record.

 From SH Johnston:
01/12/10 - Farmington, Garden Street, Riverside Cemetery, Farmington
River -- 1 HARLEQUIN DUCK (drake).

There is a road that goes along the back of the cemetery parallel to
the river. The river, and birds on the river, can generally be
observed from the road.

From Nick Bonomo with Paul Cianfaglione:
01/12/10 - Farmington, Riverside Cemetery, Farmington River --
Harlequin Duck not too long before sunset (4-415ish?). It took us
about 30 mins to find it, but it eventually swam up from downstream of
the area initially described, then drifted back downstream. Keep this
in mind if checking tomorrow. Also on the river, just around the
corner (upstream) to the west were 2 female LESSER SCAUP.

 From Jay Connolly:
01/12/10 - Derby, Osbornedale State Park, Kellogg Environmental Center
-- in thickets along the Warbler Trail, a Brown Thrasher,
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.

 From Paul Cianfaglione:
01/12/10 - Hartford, Charter Oak Landing -- 1 female RED-BREASTED
MERGANSER (less common inland).

 From Paul Carrier:
01/12/10 - Torrington, by Rt 8 -- Ad GOSHAWK after pigeons under
overpass.

 From Jan Collins:
01/11/10(?) - Windsor, Windsor landfill -- 1 GLAUCOUS GULL.
