Note: There were only negative reports - several of them - from
birders looking for the Clark's Grebes reported yesterday.  See
CTBirds for more detail on the original sighting.


 From Patrice Favreau:
11/28/11 - South Windsor, Donnelly Preserve -- Northern Shrike seen
2:15-2:30PM in area of 2d platform & a bit beyond.

 From Annie and Mike Perko:
11/28/11 - South Windsor, Major Donnelly Preserve -- 10:00 AM;
American Bittern at floating boardwalk to right before 2nd platform.
Juv. Red-headed Woodpecker at Hockanum Linear Trail from Elm St.
Parking area across cemetery. As posted prev. take right at V then
across boardwalk to 2 small bridges over streams. Bird can be seen and
heard from either, looking S.W. At one time landed in top of large
dead snag with 3 major branches close by. Woodpecker seen around 1P.M.

11/28/11 - East Hartford, Hockanum River Linear Trail -- 1 imm.
RED-HEADED WOODPECKER actively feeding on acorns.

11/28/11 - Enfield -- morning, seen from the north boat launch, adult
Peregrine Falcon flying down river with what looked like a Rock Pigeon
in it's talons.

11/28/11 - Newtown -- very late Philadelphia Vireo.

11/28/11 - New Haven, East Shore Park -- 1 Tennessee Warbler,
Yellow-breasted Chat.
