Just a reminder to keep looking for birds for Big January, both for the Hartford Audubon Society in Hartford County, and COA for the whole state.  I love running into so many birding friends at favorite haunts -- Nod Brook in Avon, Rosedale Farms in Simsbury, Cedar Hill Cemetary in Hartford, the Middle School in East Hartford, Ferry Road in South Windsor, Stratford Long Beach, Sherwood Island... so many great places to find birds.  And, of course, the excitement for the green-tailed towhee in Fairfield, which was a life bird for me. And today I finally got the Harlequins in Barkhamsted, and was lucky to find a field sparrow amidst a barrage of sparrows at Nod Brook.  I think I might have seen a white-crowned there, too, but was not certain so am not listing it... but later I'm going to be scrutinizing my photos.

So please keep looking, logging in eBird, and enjoying Big January!  Just nine more days!

And a reminder for photographers: HAS is running our Big January photo contest -- see the website for details.
