Had quite the shock this morning hearing the unmistakable bugle of a
Sandhill Crane and then seeing the bird fly low over the Greenwich Audubon
orchard heading west at 8:09 am. The bird easily could have dropped down in
a large field or golf course. Luckily the bird has made Count Period for
our annual Summer Bird Count this weekend.
Speaking of the Summer Bird Count, if any skilled birders are interested we
do still have one area in need of a captain consisting of Laurel Reservoir
and other locations in New Canaan CT. If anyone is interested in counting
on either Sat or Sun June 12 or 13 please contact me or count compiler Tom
Burke at thomaswardburke@gmail.com.
