All hands--

Our list server will be down for as long as a day on the weekend. All
mail will be spooled and forwarded later, so nothing will be lost, just
delayed.

For you techies, below is how the server man explains it.

Future upgrades

The main server, home.samurai.com, will be upgraded over the weekend to a
PentiumPro 180Mhz machine, assuming UPS gets it to me tomorrow (er,
today).
This machine is currently a Pentium 133Mhz box, so the speed increase
will
be significant.

I may also at that time change operating systems, because there's a nasty
incompatability between FreeBSD and my DAT tape drive, but that I still
haven't decided on that one.  If I do change it'll be to either Linux or
NetBSD.  All of this won't affect any of you, of course, except that if I
change operating systems the downtime will be extended.

I'm estimating it'll take the better part of a day even if I just go with
the straight swap of parts, but all e-mail will be spooled and processed
once the machine's back up again.
