Hi all,
With all the excitement around great numbers of migrating hawks in the past
week just wanted to share that this weekend, Sat-Sun 9/24-25 we are having
a 2-day public event at Greenwich Audubon entitled Quaker Ridge Hawk Watch
Weekend. WHile this isn't of the large scale of the center's Fall Festivals
which some of you may have attended previously, this is going to be a
homage to the original Hawk Watch Weekend events of the 1980s as we bookend
the 50th Anniversary of Quaker Ridge.

Aside from being able to enjoy the hawk watch from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each
day we will have the following additional events throughout the day:

RAPTOR ID WORKSHOPS - 11 a.m. both days
OWL PELLET DISSECTION FOR KIDS - 12 p.m. both days
LIVE RAPTOR SHOWS - 1 p.m. both days (presenters below)
Sat 9/24: Christine's Critters
Sun 9/25: Brian Bradley - Skyhunters in Flight

You can purchase tickets at
https://greenwich.audubon.org/visit/quaker-ridge-hawk-watch-weekend-2022

While its ofcourse unlikely that there will be another day of 15,000
raptors like we had last Friday, there are several hopeful signs in the
forecast. Today live reports have shown that Mount Watatic in MA has
counted almost 7,000 Broad-Winged Hawks today. With tomorrow's forecast of
rain those birds will be held back until ideal weather. Friday and
Saturday's forecasts show NW winds so we could be looking at a potentially
great couple days for hawk migration.

Hope to see some of you there and happy hawk watching!
