Some of you may have seen this already, but if not:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/trumps-first-full-education-budget-deep-cuts-to-public-school-programs-in-pursuit-of-school-choice/2017/05/17/2a25a2cc-3a41-11e7-8854-21f359183e8c_story.html
This could be exactly what we'll see when the Trump budget is officially released on May 23, or we may be looking at a draft, but it is certainly consistent with the "skinny" budget released earlier this year and with what we know is the administration's priorities.
It calls for a $96 million dollar cut to adult ed. From the Post story:
Other programs would not be eliminated entirely, but would be cut significantly. Those include grants to states for career and technical education, which would lose $168 million, down 15 percent compared to current funding; adult basic literacy instruction, which would lose $96 million (down 16 percent); and Promise Neighborhoods, an Obama-era initiative meant to build networks of support for children in needy communities, which would lose $13 million (down 18 percent)
It is important to remind everyone once again that it's Congress that ultimately sets the spending levels, and in the current political climate we have good reason to believe that Congressional appropriators are not going to be particularly inclined to go along with any of the cuts Trump is proposing.
