Nothing really new, but the guidance has not changed regarding feeding at this time.

Have these dead birds been tested for pesticide residue? That will either

  1. Indict the pesticides as the bird killers, or 2. Exonerate the
pesticides. Social media is blaming pesticides.

That is my thought too (and I don't do social media) - people are blasting everything indiscriminately with pesticides to kill mosquitoes, ticks, bugs of all sorts etc.  which are a primary food source for baby birds now.Angela DimmittNew Milford

I have asked this, too, and thought that UConn was doing testing for poisons -- Patrick, are there any results?

I admit that I am not as experienced as you folks, but I am also extremely
suspicious of a new persticide.  I have one lonely family of hummers
trying to survive in my yard this year. I think we lost the first brood of
house wrens.  Indeed, many of my regular birds seem to have left for better
feeding areas.
Also, I live in Guilford near the marshes.  My nbhood is usually inundated
with mosquitoes.  This year there are NO Mosquitoes!!! What a
dissappointing summer for those of us who relish our backyard birds.
BTW.  I am not a social media user.  So the idea did not come to me from
some outside source.

Another thought. Could the new 5G Network be interfering somehow with their
immune system? Like Sonar disrupting whales and dolphins. You can't see or
feel radio waves but they're everywhere. We can't afford to overlook
anything.
