Possible Pacific Loon

I would estimate the length of the bird to be around 26 inches. The bill, when compared with the RTLO, was straighter. There was also a lot of dark plumage on the neck, and I noticed a faint chinstrap on the throat. The head shape was also a lot more rounded than the RTLO.

Re: [CT Birds] Common Tern Colony at Cockenoe Island, Westport, sad news...

I estimated 550 at/near Milford Point yesterday. I saw only a few fresh juveniles and one 1st-summer bird. My suspicion was that these flocks were here due to nest failure at area colonies (possibly Falkner Is., Cockenoe Is, and Great Gull Is.).

King County wins major construction law decision

The winning contractor estimated an ability to dig 57 feet a day of tunnel but was only able to complete 28 feet a day. Negotiations failed and suit for breach was filed against the company and its sureties. The sureties defended on the basis of lack of coverage and also on the basis of the defensed of the contractor.

Lastly, a professor at UCLA is doing a project that attempts to nail down an estimate of how much time officers spend in defending themselves in Section 1983 litigation.

Varied Thrush

Eventually something came through and put up all the robins and they few away en masse -- I estimated about 120. At least 20 yellow rumps, maybe a lot more. It's a tough place to see birds since the cedars are very dense and you're right on the road without a sidewalk. Wish I could be more helpful -- I do hope someone else finds it!

[image: image.png] That module also echos its internal volume because I made a double walled filament dryer and needed to estimate the volume of insulations that I needed. So I subtracted the volume of the inner box. I stuff the gap with cotton wool, which is a nice to handle insulator.

Its output is used for temperature compensation of the pressure and humidity sensors and can also be used for /estimation/ of the ambient temperature."

Update, COMMON GULL Stratford 3/6
Wed, Mar 8, 2023 7:35 PM
I estimated 1100*+ Ring- billed Gulls, 600+ Herring Gulls. I again failed to find the COMMON GULL, but had limited time, and couldn’t look at each and every gull (many had heads tucked in, resting), despite ideal viewing conditions.

An estimated 3500-4000 were present by 9 am. Yesterday's shorebirds remained, including 5 Pectoral Sandpipers and 1 White-rumped Sandpiper.
