Snow Goose Migration in the east
Fri, Mar 15, 2024 5:58 AM
I never had a good look at the entire flock together in reasonable light (It was almost dark when I saw them in the flooded field) so I can't estimate the number of Lesser Snow Geese but there is a high percentage of both white and blue morphs.

Voluminous Open Records Request
Tue, Aug 20, 2024 6:26 PM
Estimates from city hall think that it would take at least a full week of one person working on that to get all of the records pulled, if not more. They know they need to make the records available and that a search fee is probably reasonable, but they are concerned about whether the requestor will actually pay after the search is completed.

Re: rfnoc_image_builder error: trying to tool lock on already tool locked arc

Can you estimate what percentage of unique builds (with a unique build seed or git hash) fail? Which FPGA image are you building? Does it have custom logic in it? You could use the repeat_fpga_build.py script to automate building the FPGA multiple times to get a successful build.

Once a relatively numerous breeder (estimated 500,000 birds), the species was nearly driven to extinction by the introduction of mammals (pigs, dogs, cats and rats) during the 1500 and 1600’s and had essentially vanished by 1620.

There are fewer Horned Grebes than a week ago, but about 50 were estimated on November 13. No more than four Double-crested Cormorants were seen on any single day in the past week, a noticeable scarcity compared to last month.

RE: TWL: Sailboat lights

Not because you can accurately estimate course and speed of them from a small yawing boat, but at least you know they are out there and can start looking for them. As for your comment that any deviation from the normal will cause confusion, I hate to be the bearer of really bad news, but there is no normal.

The youngest who is now 13 is quite capable of running a 120' boat at night in moderate traffic, with high speed ships about, tracking and estimating the closest point of approach (CPA), using radar. On our run from The east coast to Seattle when he was ten.
