Re: T&T: Simple fuel polishing
Mon, Jun 21, 2010 9:12 PM
I estimated the filtering power of the rig at about 10 gallons an hour. Although the pump is rated to have a 40 gallon per hour capacity, the pressure backup of the filter slows things down a bit. Additionally several passes at the potentially dirty fuel wouldn't hurt. Usually I left the pump on overnight to process 120 gallons of fuel.

Outboard trawler calculations
Tue, Apr 3, 2012 1:54 PM
I estimated a displacement of 30,000 lb. Most 40' trawlers weigh a bit more but they are burdened with heavy inboards. It would take about 43 hp at the prop to move this hypothetical trawler at it's hull speed of 8.26 kt. Now about the power plant.

Re: [OpenSCAD] Modelling a flexible strip

I had this nugget from another project. module to draw a simple 4 point Bez curve. function for piece-wise length estimation. Simple enought to add a recursive function to fit control points for the length of your pleasure.

Re: [OpenSCAD] Efficient generation of many PNG images from command line?

I used an awk script that parsed the an OpenSCAD generated STL file to dump its boundary box and from it I can roughly estimate $vpd... But I don“t like this solution since it slows down even more my workflow. The way OpenSCAD defines the appropriate camera zoom using the "View All" seems much better.

Re: [USRP-users] Random errors while transmitting certain BPSK/QPSK types on x310s

You can see in the attached image there is quite a bit of small magnitude anomalies for the second image (also errors are probably occurring a bit more frequently than I had previously estimated). To me this points to the issue being either something to do with the USRP or possibly with the TX chain blocks.

TwinRX + X300 Usage

The experiment I am conducting involves collection of high-dynamic range channel-estimates: similar requirements to a direction-finding problem. In my setup, I have 1 remote transmitter, and 4 receivers.

Re: [time-nuts] Synchronisation using GPS

Most, but not all, of the estimation error for UTC(GPS) will also cancel given equalent receivers. This is the simple mathematical background for GPS common view and it will with a very minimal transfer of information give you relative timing information. A pair of M12+ and some minor post-processing should make you happy.

Inputs are your speed and direction and (estimates) of the target's bearing, speed, and direction. It sets the bearing on the torpedo's gyrocompass. Being able to track that in real time was a major advance. The guy said they were expecting 40-50 geeks. Word got out. They had 1000 or 2000 visitors.
