The BIPM’s new algorithm, implemented around 2014, weights clock by their predictability, and also estimates the frequency drift of the masers. That’s why masers have risen to their level of prominence.

Re: FPGA-based GPS NTP server project

Another thing came up: For monitoring, I have found it quite useful to have an estimate of the current tracking resolution in the NTP responses. However, the root dispersion field does not have resolution enough (smallest non-0 value is 15.3 us) and thus only give useful reports when tracking is way off, e.g. during initial lock.

I don't have the measurements at my fingertips at the moment, but I found that synchronization was substantially better using a high-quality external clock/time source (e.g.

That's just a tiny fraction of the 23,000 pounds of mercury the EPA estimates comes from U.S. cement plants every year. And it's far below the record-setting levels from a cement plant in Eastern Oregon. That facility, in Durkee, Ore., is thought to be the biggest single industrial source of mercury in the country - at more than 2,500 pounds per year.
