At this rate we'd estimate that at least 30,000 to 50,000 Blue Jays migrated through the Hawk Cliff area this morning alone.

An estimate of over 50,000 Snow Geese in the Fournier and Riceville areas east of Ottawa this past week was without doubt the most spectacular event. Canada Goose numbers continue to be inestimable, and several are now beginning to nest.

Estimates of the number of AMERICAN PIPITS at Owen Point and Gull Island have varied from 20 to 40. Warblers are still trickling through. When the masses of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS arrive (probably within days), there should be some ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS joining them. The influx of sparrows of several species is also imminent.

[Ontbirds] Presqu'ile Birding Report for Week Ending April 28, 2011.
Fri, Apr 29, 2011 8:01 PM
An estimate of 20 RED-THROATED LOONS in Popham Bay on April 27 was the highest of this spring. Overhead migrating COMMON LOONS have been scarce, a situation that has led to speculation that recent botulism outbreaks on the Great Lakes may be responsible. A few HORNED GREBES and one RED-NECKED GREBE have been off the lighthouse.

[Ontbirds] HSR: Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch (27 Oct 2011) 2774 Raptors
Thu, Oct 27, 2011 10:10 PM
A conservative estimate would be 50,000+...and they continued all day...even after the hawkwatch was shutdown for the day. Predictions: There are almost certainly more birds "in the pipeline" as temps continue to drop in the central and northern parts of Ontario and Quebec...and the winds continue to be predominantly northerly even into this evening.
