Also Reports of No Gatherings would be apreciated. 23 March 2008 Larry Flynn Norwakl Island, hundreds of gulls (Herring(75%) and Ring-billed(25%), but also a half dozen Boneparte in the mix, feeding just south of Cockenoe Is. 24 MARCH 2008 Bill Banks just called to report a very large number of gulls (he estimates seven thousand) off Long Beach in Stratford

Shannon will discuss recent CT DEP research to estimate the abundance and distribution of shrubland habitat that is currently protected and managed. The goal is to determine how many shrubland birds we can hope to support in the future.

Quinte Area Bird Report

Soup Harbour today contained an estimated 1,500 GREAT SCAUP and there was a flock of just under 800 on West Lake this afternoon. MUTE SWANS were seen during the week at East Lake, Wellington, Consecon Lake and in the Big Island Marsh, just west of the causeway. There was a HORNED GREBE at West Point on October 31st.

With the winds dying down at the beginning of the week we had a large movement of birds on the 26th, (Tuesday) when 385 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS were trapped with an estimated total of 800 present.

It is estimated that more than 9000 birders (including some 350 from Canada) will have made at least one trip to south Texas to look for these rare Mexican birds. An estimated 250 can be seen foraging in corn stubble along County Road 18 just west of the Sandbanks Provincial Park entrance where WILD TURKEYS were also seen. A hundred or so MALLARDS continue to breakfast every morning at a Belleville address in the northeast part of the city.

At East Lake, an estimated 1,000 CANADA GEESE were present on Sunday and a lone SNOW GOOSE, formerly at Bath last week has moved to within 500 metres of the Glenora ferry dock at Adolphustown.
