In the Cedar Woods there were large numbers of thrushes hiding and an estimated 35 GRAY-CHEEKED, 75 SWAINSON'S a HERMIT THRUSH and 6 VEERYS were seen. On the census near the harbour an adult RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen feeding on the path but was not seen later.

High numbers of the latter species are also present at a feeder near Thomasburg where 60 were estimated, and 50 were seen in a backyard at Tweed. A half dozen PURPLE FINCHES are also at the Thomasburg feeder, a species we no longer see in the numbers we used to 30 years ago.

Singles here and singles there, certainly in sharp contrast to "thousands" of EUROPEAN STARLINGS, COMMON GRACKLES and RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS that have been covering many backyards as well as agricultural fields this past week - highs of 2000 estimated by a observer on Tripp Road, the same number passing over Picton yesterday, and a thousand, mostly juvenile birds

LESSER SCAUP at Trenton have started to build in numbers in Tremur Lake with one estimate involving 300 to 400 birds. Muscote Bay has 20-30 MALLARDS, HOODED MERGANSERS, and this morning, 250-300 LESSER SCAUP showed up. At Prince Edward Point, few COMMON LOONS are being seen on the lake and there were 3 RED-THROATED LOONS seen on the 29th.

AMERICAN GOLDFINCH numbers remain high at many feeders in the area, with an estimated 30 showing up in Allisonville and the Northport area. In metro Allisonville, high numbers are also represented this season by DARK-EYED JUNCOS, BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES, along with 2 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS.

One highlight is a small colony of Ross's Geese within the larger colony estimated to be a couple of hundred pairs (we have photos to analyze). We also found a few small groups of breeding Common Eiders." Good numbers of Caribou were seen on the aerial survey.
