Doppler shift correction
Sat, Jan 25, 2014 11:22 AM
Is it better to implement a frequency estimator and set the USRP centre frequency at the centre frequency of the satellite (radio amateur UHF band) or changing the USRP centre frequency using the Doppler frequency correction calculated from a satellite orbiter tracking software? I am for the first solution but I would like to have other opinions.

Reg : PSD

Hi all, I want to get the PSD estimation at a particular frequency band. I am using the usrp_spectrum_sense.py. I can see that this code will produce the power and not PSD. In general, I can use scipy spectrogram to get the PSD. But if I pass the same input as it is passed to power, I am getting tuple index out of range error.

The doctors estimate I will be recovered within the next $300-$400. I hope you all have a great holiday. 73, Dave, K4TO

Re: [time-nuts] List of time synchronization hardware and software

To qualify, I think such hardware ought to provide for performing the synchronization function -- such as, for instance, outputting a one-pulse-per-second signal at its estimate of the exact UTC (or TAI) second boundary. Otherwise, the equipment would be a clock, but not "time synchronization hardware." -- James Maynard Salem, Oregon, USA

Copy cost and onward postage ------------- Whoops, hit send early:-) Was going to say that copy cost and onward postage might get expensive but will check manual and estimate costs for anyone who's interested. regards Nigel GM8PZR

Thanks for the time estimate, Bert. As long as we're building the opto-isolated, divide-by-120 ZCD, what's a few more minutes? Plus, it's nice the firmware is already written. I have some PIC programmers, but haven't spent as much time with them as AVR JTAG. But, like you, they get the job done eventually. Kevin

HP Journal on Resistors and divider

Here's an interesting estimate of what it could be worth today, using the basic Federal CPI statistics: http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm $500 for the resistor and $5,664 for the 334A. At 13:12 04/19/2012, Dick wrote: Note that those resistor sold new for around $70 ea. Bet you can't buy one of them used for that now.

Record hiking/driving distance using runningmap.com
Fri, May 10, 2013 2:09 AM
I am horrible at estimating distances.  Runningmap.com allows you to plot points of your hiking/driving distance for the day.  It records your distance to the nearest hundredth of a mile.  For example, I figured out that I walked 1.86 miles today around West Lake/Russet Lane in Middletown.
