As usual Rudy has a very informative discussion Of maintenance for a vented loop. However, I too am confused why you would have a vented loop on an engine raw water intake cooling line. I certainly have never seen that on any of the boats that I have owned whether diesel or gas. The list includes Atlantic,3 Bertram's, Grand Banks,Hatteras, Magnum. All first rate builders.
